Every time I look at the new leaf (frond) on my tree fern (Dicksonia antarctica) I can’t help but see a baby orangutan. Try it for yourself…tree fern…Orangutan…(image borrowed from http://www.naked-malaysian.com/)
My mom did a watercolor painting of magnolias once. It really was quite nice, and she framed it and hung it on our living room wall. Uncle Harvey took one look at it and pointed out Huey, Louey, and Dewey (Donald Duck's nephews) lurking, Waldo style. None of us could ever again look at that painting without seeing them. Your orangutan simply enhances the pleasure of your tree fern, and I trust will not relegate it to a back closet, as was the fate of the painting.
Thanks everyone! Good to know I'm not completely crazy and you saw it too! And it's a bonus if I made you smile...
Karen, I LOVED the Land of the Lost but sadly had to Google Chaka, my memory failed me. But as soon as I saw the image it all came back to me. So true!
How it Grows, I had no clue about the salt-sucker so back to Google I went. Wow...now that is SERIOUSLY UGLY!!!!
ricki, your poor mom! Was she ok with the Waldo-ness of the painting?
How absolutely right you are. What a sweet, smile inspiring post. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHow can we not see it? ha ha ha! fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI do, I do! And you don't even have to feed it much. What great orange "hair"!
ReplyDeleteFunny!
ReplyDeleteThat's hilarious! It really does look like a baby orangutan.
ReplyDeleteToo funny.
ReplyDeleteAnd I DO see it !
LOL, yes!
ReplyDeleteOh! I see it! Baby orangutan, at that! Or are you old enough to remember the Land of the Lost? Chak-ka, anyone?
ReplyDeleteIt also looks a bit like that salt-sucker from the original Star Trek.
ReplyDeleteI say both!
ReplyDeleteThe resemblance is uncanny. LOL
ReplyDeleteBaby orangutan! Now I really have to replace my lost tree fern this year.
ReplyDeleteHilarious!
