At ground level, chapter II

Last winter my husband went out to the garden on an errand with the camera and came back with some fabulous unexpected shots. I was house-bound (broken ankle) and unable to get outside and see how the plants were doing, he kindly volunteered to be my digital eyes. In addition to photographing the plants I was curious about he returned with a series of fabulous photos taken at ground level, a view of the garden I’d never stopped to consider. Since then I have, several times. You see an entirely different garden when you are lying on the ground. In a follow-up tribute here is my series of pictures taken from an insect’s point of view.

  1. LOVE the giant semps! I remember when your husband took those first ground level pictures. I though then it was a great idea, and I should try it. I still haven't. Maybe this will actually get me to do it!

  3. Great shots! I love getting these ground-level shots, makes you really consider the garden differently. I particularly like the shot with the Yucca (I'm assuming it's a yucca) with the curling filaments...really striking!

  4. It's a great way to see the world--The low-crawling bugs have a lot of cool stuff to look at.

  6. Your husband really started something...a new way of looking at the world. Think he could do something for the current batch of politicians?

    Liza, thank you!

Scott, actually that's an Agave geminiflora!

James, at a lot of feet to watch out for.

    Thanks Evelyn!

Spiky O, everyone should spend more time laying on the ground.

  8. Hi Loree, I'm playing catch-up. Nice shots. I'm going to try this as soon as the confounded rain-soaked lawn dries out. Wait. By then I will have forgotten.
