Walking Lila, our chug, the other evening (I realize I’ve referred to her as a pug in the past, but she is actually a chug) I spied this ground cover. The intent seemed to be for it to take the place of a lawn, and was doing a pretty good job. The bracts look a lot like a Euphorbia. Is this a Euphorbia ground cover variety that I know nothing about? Can anyone ID it? Is it a weed?
Is it dichondra? I saw some dichondra at PN last weekend, but it was grayer. The leaves look exactly the same shape, though. I remember it from my California childhood where it was commonly used as a lawn substitute.
ReplyDeleteNo, I've done a bit more looking online and decided it's not dichondra. Too bad, I thought I had it ID'd!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jane - I was only able to look at dichondra briefly but was pretty sure the leaves were not right. Thank you though!
ReplyDeleteTo me - it looks like "miner's lettuce" -a very yummy addition to salads....only if THAT is what it is!
ReplyDeleteHum...sounds possible tasty! I will need to check this out!
ReplyDeletei'm just catching up after stumbling on your blog researching tetrapanax. Yep, sure looks like Minor's Lettuce -- Claytonia perfoliata
