That is pretty amazing look: opuntia of many colors. I bet it would look great with the fruit all over. I wonder if they harvest it.
I do recall seeing the fruit in the past, it is also quite colorful.
That's an impressive stand even before the beautiful blooms are taken into consideration. Wonder if originally there were two plants with different coloured flowers that have now merged into one clump.
That's an interesting idea, but I believe it's an age thing. The flowers start off one color and then "fade" to another. There are a couple of pads you can see have multiple colors blooming on them.
Ooh, that's MASSIVE! And a little like Rosa mutabilis with all the color progressions.
Love the different colors. Have a yellow and red one and neighbor has a yellow one, we are going to trade a few pads.
This is a beauty.
The are fantastic! I grew up in San Diego and one of our houses had a hill of opuntia, fond memories.
It looks great against the blue house too!
What neighborhood is this in? I'd love to see it!
It's on Killingsworth, just east of 15th Ave if my memory is correct. On the north side of the street.
Gotta go take a peak!
Quite a sight. My O. phaeacantha does that on a much smaller scale. Good to see it elsewhere. I'm not sure if I noticed it before.
Wow, that is fabulous. Think they'd share a pad or two with you??
Funny you ask. Another friend is looking into just that.
Wow! Raspberry red, lemon yellow, and orange orange!
Suddenly I'm hungry.
