Wednesday Vignette, when in need...

I can't imagine a more lovely location for a porta-potty...

A lot of the independent nurseries in the Portland area have porta-pottys for customers to use while shopping—thus I've seen quite the range of facilities. This one at San Marcos Growers in Santa Barbara, CA, is definitely one of the best.

  1. I love it. Next to a pile of gravel, and a bunch of Agaves, one of which has a bloom looming over it? Perfect.

    1. Ya, that blooming agave sealed the deal for me.

  2. Was your opinion swayed by the blooming agave nearby? We've got a port-a-potty sitting in our driveway right now with a large Phormium on one side and a storage pod on the other. I wonder if the construction guys would appreciate it if I put a vase of flowers inside?

  3. I wish New England nurseries would follow this trend. The sand all around makes it seem a right perfect litter box.

    1. I think it's actually gravel, sand would be a kitty cat litter box!

  5. I can't enjoy nature when nature calls!
The larger nurseries in Seattle have brick and mortar WC, which I find more pleasant.

    1. Yes, so do the Portland ones. It's the more rural locations where you're still faced with a porta-potty.

  6. How wonderfully considerate of them to build a shade structure around it! I bet it keeps the actual porta-potty quite a bit cooler for needy users.

  7. This is a little more attractive location than usual. I agree with other commenters that they are not lovely, but a welcome sight. Nothing like needing a bathroom break without one nearby. Can't concentrate on shopping with anything else on one's mind.

  8. Very considerate of nurseries. Funny how when you arrive at certain destinations you immediately have to find a restroom.
