I could have sworn this house is the one that features pot after plastic pot of plants in the (extrawide) hell-strip in the summertime. Perhaps I'm wrong. I wanted to walk further down the street to see if that was another home but it started to rain and I wasn't dressed for it, so I headed home.

ReplyDeleteBlue seems to be a fairly popular house color around here. Perhaps to remind us (during the dark winter months) of the blue sky?
Deletethis has helped me find a new appreciation for ugly old plain concrete. the blue concrete clashes painfully with the blue violet house. the blue concrete would work with a titty pink house with a grey roof. this makes me wonder if this example of painted concrete goes back to midcentury. Once it is painted it would be difficult to revert. the white plastic fence surrounding the boring landscaping is the icing on the ugly cake.

ReplyDeleteI wondered the same thing when I saw it. At first I thought it was a tarp (with a nasty windstorm a few weeks back there are a few roofs around town waiting their turn to be fixed...tarps are everywhere), but no - it's paint.

DeleteOkay... you all win, I'm still laughing!!! Although it wasn't as funny when our next door neighbor's house was a very bright blue, then they asked what I thought about having their new driveway tinted blue, too. I told them I didn't think the HOA would okay the color. YES for HOA's!

DeleteBeauty certainly is in the eye of the beholder. I can't even imagine what they were thinking...at least they could have done a complementary blue a darker shade than the house. I agree with Alan on the all blue planting scheme! And perhaps shape the big bush to look like Cookie : ) I guess I am either tone it down or go further!!!

DeleteSooo awful, wondering if the owners might be elderly and the paint is some sort of slip resistant coating obtained on sale and applied by someone who has no vested interest. Then again, the house IS blue as well.

DeleteBlue is such a rare color in gardens. How clever of these homeowners to take things into their own hands. Much easier than growing those pesky blue poppies. I can't wait to do this myself. Darn, I don't have a driveway.
