(despite the weather) Patio season is officially OPEN!

After an afternoon spent digging the furniture out from the garage, cleaning it, and oiling it (in preparation for the inevitable rain to come) it's time... To declare patio season officially OPEN! What does this mean? In the months ahead there will be countless dinners outside, drinks with friends, Sunday breakfast on the patio in the sun. Maybe even a few garden blogger friends gathered around. I can't wait!!! I've been anticipating this moment for months....

  2. Amen. Actually here in DC we're into a string of 70-75 degree sunny days. There...now I've jinxed it! Anyway, another few days and we'll be hoping for rain. Enjoy.

  4. Wonderful! Love your attitude!

We have a space we call The Dock that is surrounded by flower beds. We start our evenings (or afternoons) with drinks on The Dock. Alas, we didn't get to start the new season yesterday with all the glorious sunshine. I'm working very hard to ignore the liquid sunshine coming down today.

    Also love the stock containers.

  5. Thank you Darla!

ChrisU, a string of 70-75 degree sunny days? What joy that must be. I think we've had 2 days were it was sunny and 60...so sad.

scott, thanks...IKEA a couple of years back.

Van, despite my hard work we didn't get to enjoy the patio last night either. Too soon to set on the freshly oiled wood. I love that you call your space The Dock are you near water or just like the sound of it?

  6. wow, that looks so nice and inviting. You could be featured in gardening or lifestyle magazine! Watch out though, we have a LOT more wet weather coming.

  7. We are close to water-- 2 min drive to Puget Sound. Alas, we have no view.

We call it The Dock because it's made of rough wood and looks like a dock nestled in the corner of the garden. And when the garden comes into its own and you are having drinks on The Dock, you really feel as if you're on a dock in a sea (lake?) of plants.

OK, I'm going to admit a little envy of your patio set. Modern and unassuming, it just looks like it fits right in.

  9. Ryan, nah...you've just been listening to the wrong sources! (and I'm in the denial stage)

Van, perfect! You describe a beautiful setting.

Thanks Patricia...when I saw it (at IKEA) I knew it was just what I was looking for.

  10. I, too, have serious patio set envy. Your Ikea finds are just perfect for your patio. I look forward to the opening of Patio Season at my house, after the last of the concrete mess is cleaned up...by then we'll probably be into Re-roofing Season. It's gonna be great, but it's hard to wait. Enjoy!

I love the stock tanks. What species of bamboo are these?
