This is the 100th danger garden post! And I was worried I wouldn’t have anything to say after a couple of weeks! Thank you all for visiting, commenting and sharing your knowledge, experience and passion. Thank you for your compliments and encouragement.
I was explaining to someone the other day why I enjoy the blogosphere. For me it’s like getting to read all these great mini-magazines everyday. I love receiving each issue of Garden Design, Horticulture or Fine Gardening and pouring over every article and picture. Like a good magazine, a good garden blog is full of a wide range of topics and pictures, and they are all so highly personalized, I love it! Thank you for the energy, effort and creativity that you each put into your own blogs, I have learned so much from you.
The photo at top is the single blossom my passion flower vine has produced this year. Hopefully there will be more, but since I thought I had lost it last winter I am happy to even get the one. The first time I saw these flowers I was just sure they were fake. How could nature produce such an odd combination!
I’d have ya’ll over for drinks on the patio to mark the occasion (#100 and the passion flower), if that was possible. Instead I promise to raise a mojito, or a glass of wine (or both) over the weekend as a toast to you, my blog friends…cheers!
Yay Danger Garden! Thank you helping me kill company time - daily. Congrats!!
ReplyDeleteHi DG and congratulations. Can we ever run out of things to say on the topic of gardening? LOL Your likening reading garden blogs to reading garden magazines is dead on. I like the prose of both but it seems like the magazines are always short on photos. The Blogs take care of that.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Loree! Congrats! I am SO HAPPY to be a reader and commenter and to have found you, one who loves the sharp and pointy just as much as I do!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your wonderful posts, for allowing us into your garden to see you push the boundaries of your zone with gusto, and for being a wonderfully supportive member of the garden blogging world I appreciate you SO MUCH!
Here in LA, my passionflower is going mad - but to me, your one passionflower is much more beautiful, because she is determined, and trying harder than any of the ones living the easy life down here. I honor your passion, Loree/Flower!
XOXO
I saw one purple passiflora today at a nursery today but it was expensive to buy. Btw, congrats on this 100th post... not easy but I am sure that you would have no problem for many 100s more. You are good at writing and I love your replies. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Grace - it IS like reading magazines. I'm enjoying your blog, so keep the posts coming. :-)
ReplyDeleteShh DS! You really only look at danger garden on your breaks, right?
ReplyDeleteGrace, I am glad you agree about the magazines! And your blog in particular puts the photo spreads in magazines to shame!
Germi, thanks! Hey glad to hear from you again...I thought maybe you took off to that island and decided not to return! (hehe) Do you find your passion flower is invasive? I have read horror stories about their getting a little too happy.
Stephanie, I thought they were expensive here too, until I found this bargain last year. And it was covered with blossoms at the time! Thank you for the kind words.
Kim, thanks for visiting, and I will do my best to keep you entertained.
Hey danger,
ReplyDeleteThe feelings are mutual !
Michelle
I have been glad that you've started a blog since the first day I found you. Thanks for the ongoing inspiration and motivation. Happy 100th anniversary!
ReplyDeleteHi Loree, congrats on your milestone and here's to many more "centuries" of posts. I actually do not read gardening mags, they always make me feel inadequate and I never find anything I actually end up incorporating. Blogs are so much more human, you can see things succeeding but also failing, people triumphing but sometimes struggling, the minutae of personal preference as opposed to editorial overview, etc. The personal connections, even if they just remain in the virtual world (but isn't it lovely when they progress out of it?!), have enhanced my life on a daily basis since I jumped in last summer. It's a lot of work, but so worth it! So thanks for being a part of this cool community and doing what you do so well.
ReplyDeleteI had that passiflora in my old garden, I so miss it. Yes, it can become a beast! My mom's is taking of the universe. But with flowers like that, who cares?!
Congrats! I've enjoyed reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteWish my passion vine had come back after its first year. :-[
Happy 100th post, Loree. I'm glad you're out here, doing what you do. I love reading the Danger Garden!
ReplyDeleteThanks DD and Megan!
ReplyDeleteKaren,I thought of you when I was reading the latest issue of BBC Gardeners World, have you ever read this mag? I find it at Powells here in Portland but Barnes and Noble also has it. They even show people working in the garden with dirty hands...like a real gardener would!
K&V, maybe you should try another?
Pam the danger garden appreciates your reading!
