Wednesday Vignette: red palm trees

When you think of Paris do you think of palm trees? Not so much? I saw several during my short visit. They've already snuck into one of my pictures of the Eiffel Tower and my "Agave spotting" post. I'm sure more will show up as I work my way through the hundreds of photos I took.

These red "palm trees" however, they deserved their own moment in the sun. Easy to dismiss as garish, a closer inspection had me appreciating their construction. They're built to last awhile and certainly help draw your attention to Aux Trois Mailletz, which looks like a fun place we should have stopped in...

  1. They must make an even more dramatic statement when that red awning is unfurled.

  5. You never know where you will see fake palms. They seem to pop up in lots of places.

  6. Flashy! Although I keep thinking I'd like them better if the trunks weren't also red.

  9. I'm with Rickii - when fake takes pride in what it is, kitch rules! (Says the one who constructed a fake "palm" out of metal sheeting and a Dasylirion.)
