It's Vignette week! Day two: spring

In case you missed yesterday's post, this is Vignette Week here at danger garden, each day's photo depicting a season from last year. Spring is represented by my Poncirus trifoliata in flower, the neighbor's Dogwood is also in bloom and the sky is stormy — a typical springtime occurrence in Portland.

Weather Diary, Dec 26: Hi 35, Low 23/ Precip: trace — yes, most everything (plantwise) is still frozen. I am not happy about that.

Wednesday Vignettes are hosted by Anna at Flutter & Hum. All material © 2009-2017 by Loree Bohl for danger garden. Unauthorized reproduction prohibited and just plain rude.

    1. It is very very faint and only shows up occasionally.

  3. Wow! That's a lot of flowers. I didn't realize this plant was so floriferous. This is the one that also makes little orange fruits, right?

    1. Yes indeed, although they're a little yellower than true orange.

  4. Poncirus is an impressive plant. I've been surprised at just how many thorns even my ordinary citrus trees have, although I'm reminded of this every time I try to prune them - ouch!

  5. Having seen photos of your fruiting Poncirus, I'm not surprised to see all those flowers. Just gorgeous! All the more proof that mine needs to be moved - or go to a better home. It was nowhere NEAR that kind of display!

Oh, and I need to check into what Vignette Week is. Sounds right up my alley...!

  6. Great shot! For a moment I thought it was a Magnolia.

  7. This Poncirus trifoliate could provide a picture for each one of the seasons all by itself. I love a plant with a multi-season interest. Not every plant can pull off such a feat. I only wish the fragrance could come through the post...

    1. That's so true. Hmmm....perhaps I need to capture it through out the year...

  8. So... fragrant or not fragrant? I've seen conflicting reports.

    1. Both! The stars seem to need to be aligned for the scent to be noticeable.
