I am not a morning person, yet here I was, walking into a semi-vacant lot at 5:43 in the morning last Saturday. Lila needs medication every 8-hrs. The first pill of the day is at 5:30, and it's combined with a quick potty walk. Andrew handles that responsibility most days but I usually take the Saturday morning shift. We spent last Friday night in Kennewick, WA, en-route to Spokane. This odd bit of stalled construction is next to the hotel we usually stay at. It's curious at any time of the day but especially so early in the morning, as the sun rises and unfamiliar birds call out. With the grasses glowing, and the air so fresh, I almost forgot I wanted to go back to bed.

Looks like the set for a sci-fi movie.
ReplyDeleteNow that you mention it...
DeleteOh - that's a beautiful image. I can almost feel the morning dew drops on my feet... Great shot!
ReplyDeleteThanks Anna!
DeleteLanding pad for flying saucers? There's nothing quite like early morning in eastern Washington.
ReplyDeleteTrue...but I have to ask, have you ever spent an early morning in Eastern WA?
DeleteOh yes. Some of my college friends were from Electric City, Bickleton, & Cheney. Spent lots of time in those places & a couple of visits to the big city of Spokane. It's been a while but the smell of the fields at night, the blazing dry heat, and the freshness of a new morning on the east side are pretty spectacular and remain fresh in my mind. Must go back sometime.
DeleteWell heck... I had no idea!
DeleteEarly morning in summer is the best. An unfamiliar setting makes it even more so IMO.
ReplyDeleteNow I know.
DeleteDo you know what they were constructing before that came to a halt? As Linda said, it does have the feel of a sci-fi movie in which life as we know it comes to a screeching and unexplained stop.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea, I wonder if the hotel staff would know. I'll have to ask...next time.
DeleteLove this photo Loree !
ReplyDeleteThanks ks!
