Wednesday Vignette, Autumn and the Agaves

If you slogged through yesterday's lengthy Agave report you saw an earlier version of this vignette, here's what it's looking like now. I wish I could say I planned this one but it's just a happy accident.

Wednesday Vignettes are hosted by Anna at Flutter & Hum. All material © 2009-2016 by Loree Bohl for danger garden. Unauthorized reproduction prohibited and just plain rude.

  1. That combo by your front steps is my favorite! I'm about to plant a Yucca linearifolia right now, and one of the plants that I'm putting with it is Euphorbia rigida. I must have had this in the back of my mind as inspiration when I did it.

  5. The yellow foliage is Amsonia, right? I wonder if it would turn yellow in the fall here as well, not that I've ever found the plant for sale locally.

    1. Yes it's Amsonia...it's Zones are listed as 5-8, so you might be just a little too warm?

  6. Beautiful. I know I should know, but what are the purple leaves next to the Agave? It's a Euphorbia? Blackbird? Ok, I'll stop guessing....

  8. The feathery foliage lures your hand to touch... and the agave bites it!

I have a gardening friend who got rid of most things yellow from his garden because it "was the most common color". He clearly hadn't seen this sort of display.
