This tamale didn't last the afternoon...
It was amazing! There's a family that sells tamales in a parking lot near us, we've bought from them occasionally, but this tamale was in a whole different realm. So good!
The strawberries were perfectly ripe and delicious (they're not quite all gone...)
Yum!
This lettuce and those carrots were almost too lovely to eat.
We haven't tried the cheese yet, but I'm curious if I'll be able to detect a difference from regular mozzarella.
Opening the bag I first thought these were eggplant, but they're peppers! Violet Sparkle Peppers grown by @farmerevanpdx who says "superior sweet pepper flavor! The color turns blue when cooking." We haven't eaten these yet, they're so pretty it's going to be hard to cut into them, but I will.
This was delicious!
These are gone already, I had fresh mozzarella left from another dinner so I made a salad to go with our salmon Saturday night.
Eggs!
Ya, I'm just odd enough to get really excited about the fact the eggs are brown and some are speckled.

If you live in the Portland area you can pick and choose from their multiple vendors online, order by 11:59 PM on Wednesdays, and your order will be ready for pickup or delivery on Saturday—pretty sweet right? What a great box to open. Everything delicious, fresh and local. You will probably notice a bit of a difference with the goat cheese. It tends to be milder and has a lower fat content. My hubbie has a dairy allergy so we sub with goat cheeses for various dishes. Goat mozza or gouda are wonderful on pizza.

DeleteGosh, what a lovely gift! Everything looks delicious. I can even picture you growing those peppers next year for their unique shape and color. I haven't had pasta in decades. Emmer Wheat is an ancient type that's supposed to be healthier than modern varieties. I'd be curious to know how the macaroni taste.

DeleteWhat a haul! Each and every item is wonderful. I don't think I could cut those peppers - they're so pretty. The tamale made me hungry despite a late breakfast.
ReplyDeleteIn your comment this morning, you mentioned you'd had a power outage. Our day started out with one and there's no status as yet. Ours is just one among many dozens it appears. Luckily we have a portable generator we can use to power the fridge (and my PC) but not the AC :( Hopefully, whatever the problem is will be resolved before the temperature goes back into the upper 90s tomorrow...
I hope your power is back Kris, and how handy about the generator!

DeleteWhat a great service-I hope they are wildly successful. Our farmers market is open two days a week, but the experience of a leisurely browse is just not happening right now. You point (caution tape between you and the goods) they bag it for you and collect. I still go but I am longing for the day when the market is normal again !
