Wednesday Vignette, Magnolia made me laugh...

I'm a fan of all things Magnolia, and as such never miss an opportunity to admire them in the landscape — wherever they may appear. I spotted this cap-wearing bud just outside Pomarius Nursery. Maybe it's the season but I could help but think of a Christmas Elf...am I crazy or can you see it too?

What, you need a visual? Okay...here's one of my (inherited) severed elf heads. Now page up to the Magnolia bud, and down to the elf. Up, Down, Up, Down, do you see it too?

There's a pair of elf heads. They're currently living in the bathroom medicine cabinet. Put there to startle my husband (it worked!) and anyone else who happens to open the door...

  1. I see it and love it. I also love the idea of booby-trapping the medicine cabinet with severed elf heads.

    1. There was a zombie outbreak in the medicine cabinet a few months ago. They even glowed in the dark!

  2. Yikes, elves freak me out. You see a cute thing in a Santa Hat, I see this.

  3. I see it but that may just mean that we're both crazy (Evan too). I've heard of guests snooping in medicine cabinets (no one we know, I'm sure)...deserving of a bit of a shock.

    2. I was so naive (once upon a time). I was shocked when friends told me they regularly did it and then went on to discuss the contents of several other friends cabinets.

  4. Cute magnolia elf! How cool to have severed heads in your medicine cabinet. Now everyone will want to peek in there to see if you continue to plant surprises.

    1. Ha! You've given me ideas. I should move them and see if Andrew notices. "but they have no legs...how did they move???"

  9. I love that you put elf heads in the cabinet to startle your husband! I've put miniature cats and flowers in the kitchen cabinets but my husband didn't bat an eye - I'm not sure what it would take to get his attention. Einstein's head maybe...

  10. this is exactly why you don't want to snoop around in people's medicine cabinets. also, i am off to look for some elves to decapitate.

  11. Too funny. We used to make vignettes with toothbrushes to amuse each other when we walked into the bathroom. When I was single, for many years I had a photo of the French actor Jean Louis Trintignant inside the door of my medicine cabinet.

    1. Well that would be a nice thing to wake up to (the photo, but then again the toothbrushes too!).

  12. Shopping list for today...elves! Years ago we had a Halloween party and I put a 2' plastic alligator with a doll's leg in it's mouth in the bathtub then I pulled the shower curtain closed. It was incredible the number of guests that left the bathroom either laughing or mortified. Love it!

    1. OMG! I love that...perfect! We've got dark stains on the bathtub from a previous owners non-slip stickers. When we've had people over I want to print a little sign that says "yes, I scrub the tub!...these stains are not dirt!"...
