Calla Lilly as a rock garden plant?

I love it when I see a plant growing somewhere unlikely, like this Calla Lily. I don’t think of them as rock garden plants (perhaps I’m wrong) yet here was a beautiful plant growing out of a rock wall.

  1. I agree, I wouldn't normally think of a Calla Lilly in a rock garden but if it works..... it looks great though. I love the Chocolate Mimosa in the following post- we have those- love them- nice change up on the typical mimosa- I like the tropical look.

  2. Just never know what surprises you'll find in the gardens.

  3. Who could pull out such a fine looking plant even if it is muscling in on the hens and chicks. I couldn't.

  4. That must be one damp rock garden. Here they will grow for long only in spots with poor drainage.

  5. You're right, you wouldn't normally associate Calla lilies with a rock garden (opposite even as they normally like lots of moisture)but somehow that type seems at home in its surroundings. It certainly looks happy too. I think the usual Z. aethiopica would look out of place but that one doesn't :)
