Wednesday Vignette, pink carpet

When I was in the 4th grade my family moved to a new home and I got to pick out the light fixture and carpet for my bedroom. For the carpet I chose a two-tone pink shag, it looked like someone chugged a bottle of Pepto-Bismol and threw up. I thought of that carpet when I drove by this scene...

The towering magnolia is still covered in blossoms...

Even after dropping enough petals to cover the entire front yard in a thick layer.

The fragrance was powerful, in a good way.

The vignette was all the more dramatic in-person because the other homes on the street had green carpets. Dare to be different.

    1. Right? That was the second thing I thought (after the childhood carpet memory).

  4. That's awesome! I bet the owners don't enjoy having to rake/blow in the spring though.

    1. Ya, petals are so much more "sticky" than fall leaves.

  5. Wow! That has got to be one of the biggest Magnolias of that type, that I've seen. It's gigantic! And what a magnificent carpet. The Pepto-Bismol visual cracked me up! I wish I could show you the carpet I picked out... sheesh!

  6. That is the biggest magnolia I've ever seen! Amazing, it must be ancient. The climate must be perfect for it. I love floral carpets (not pink shag ones ;) ). I find them romantic!

  7. Somehow I can't imagine you in a pink room, even in 4th grade. I love the Magnolia. Although like other of your commentators I wouldn't like to clean up after it, I'd stop my car to get a photo of that pretty carpet.

    1. I definitely was a pink loving girl, I think it was a reaction to my mom's love of orange and rust.

  8. Wow, that is incredible! Now I'm imagining swinging on that swing, dreaming special dreams while surrounded by sweet Magnolia petals and blooms. Sigh.

  9. Plus there is a swing hanging from that tree! Imagine sitting in it while those petals fall.

  10. Ah yes, it's that wonderful Pepto Bismol vomit time of year. Isn't it cool when huge magnolias do that?
