Downtown, doing a little Christmas shopping, I passed this building entrance—which isn't really much of an entrance.
The plants (a variegated Osmanthus?) aren't exactly a well done display either.
It almost looks like they're trying to bust down the doors..."let us in!"...
Super curious right?
Back home I looked up the building on Google street view, this image is from September 2017.
And this one from August 2018...
Also from August 2018, this one shows a name in the window, up higher than I was able to see it from the sidewalk, Dossier Hotel. You can also make out a shorter grass bordering the front of the odd wooden boxes, and taller trees at the back next to the doors. My guess is they both died and the Osmanthus is all that's left. Sad...

This could be an elegant and modern entrance. Instead it looks like a missed opportunity. The web site wasn't particularly enticing either (they could use your help).
ReplyDeleteThe website makes me want to run in the other direction!
DeleteIf that's the decor at the hotel I would be a little nervous about the quality of their service!
ReplyDeleteRight? TO be fair I think it's a back door that's (obviously) not used, but still.
DeleteUgh. They're still in pots. This place needs help.
ReplyDeleteSo sad!
DeleteHow odd to block the entry way like that... And, for as much as I like Osmanthus, those poky leaves doesn't exactly make them very pedestrian-friendly plants. Poor plants, by the way - they didn't even take them out of their nursery pots! (Which brings to mind MY garden, so who am I to criticize...?) Anyway, I agree with chavliness - they could totally use your help!
ReplyDeleteI think it's a backdoor that they're trying to keep people from even thinking of using but ya, pretty pathetic.
DeleteGet on over there and fix this. Talk about dangerous gardening...
ReplyDeleteWhat's my budget?
DeleteHuh. I guess they decided they no longer want to use that entry but surely they could find a better way to decorate.
ReplyDeleteAgreed!
