If the non-conifer-like foliage of Podocarpus matudae didn't already have me under its spell, then the way the new foliage unfurls would pull me in for sure.
It's a two-fer for my Wednesday Vignette, because I couldn't decide which photo to use...

A conifer?! who would have thought. The unfurling looks like a delicate dance.
ReplyDeleteUnfurl seems to be exactly the right word for it.
ReplyDeleteIt's totally twisted.
ReplyDeleteThat new foliage is cool. I didn't know Podocarpus was a conifer. I really think only a gardener notices and appreciates things like this.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a flower.
ReplyDeleteLove our matudae, bought one as a rooted cutting a few years ago and is growing slowly but nicely
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of surprised how fast mine has grown.
DeleteBeautiful! Love the celadon color!
ReplyDeleteThe new foliage looks like an exotic flower.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love it, too. That is so unusual.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cool conifer. Mine died this winter, unfortunately. Not a good year for new plants, even if they are normally hardy. My Schefflera taiwaniana should do better in its place.
ReplyDeleteUgh. Sorry...hopefully this winter will be much kinder to both of our gardens.
