We've all seen a plastic nursery pot sit too long on the ground and root right into the soil. This my friend is that phenomenon taken to the next level. Not only is the trunk of this plant about the size of that 4" pot look at the massive root!
And you know what – it's blooming – Echium don't care! (said with the same inflection as Honey Badger Don't Care, of course).
With this crazy plant feature (spotted in the garden of a friend) I'm joining up with Anna at Flutter & Hum, who hosts our Wednesday Vignettes. All material © 2009-2016 by Loree Bohl for danger garden. Unauthorized reproduction prohibited and just plain rude.
Oh my! Plant well determined to escape and thrive!
ReplyDeleteThe force is strong with this one! Life will find a way when it can. I'm a bit embarassed to admit that I have several rooted pots in my garden, none this spectacular though.
ReplyDeleteLet me tell you about a potted bamboo left too long... That echium is impressive!
ReplyDeleteThat's actually just a little scary...
ReplyDeleteI always feel so mortified when I lift a post only to find it has rooted in -I always feel certain I just put the damn thing there last week !
ReplyDeleteI have an enormous Echium pininana that overwintered in the greenhouse that I very much fear has rooted into the gravel. I haven't even tried to move it yet. The wall is holding it up. It's a monster.
ReplyDeleteI guess it's too late to plant it now.
ReplyDeleteWOW! The will to live is powerful, isn't it? Impressive...
ReplyDeleteIs that like "honey badger don't care"...hahha your title made me laugh. Yes, Echium don't care one bit. Good for it.
