Three vignettes (none of them my work) to inspire you to take up The Aeonium Challenge. This first one is the work of Riz Reyes, part of his design for the City Living display at the 2015 Northwest Flower and Garden Show.
I discovered this planter during a visit to Secret Garden Growers in Canby, OR – it's a great nursery to visit!
And finally Aeoniums strutting their stuff in the garden of Bob Hyland (of Contained Exuberance). You've got until Monday to get in your entry! (details)
Wednesday Vignettes are hosted by Anna at Flutter & Hum. All material © 2009-2016 by Loree Bohl for danger garden. Unauthorized reproduction prohibited and just plain rude.
All gorgeous, for sure! Aeoniums have such sculptural interest, they always seem to showcase best in a diva capability, surrounded by support players. I love the textural simplicity of both Riz's and Bob's arrangements. Great talents both! Let me know when you head up the Sarracenia challenge - I just binged on a bunch of those... Such cool plants!
ReplyDeleteDivas for sure! Unless you live in parts of California where they're practically weeds. The Sarracenia Challenge...now that could be fun!
DeleteAeoniums are so incredibly cool. Why do they hate me?
ReplyDeleteBecause you live in Oregon and don't have a greenhouse?
DeleteI'm really impressed with the simplicity of the sedge with the aeoniums in Riz Reyes' design. Could I be moving toward simplicity? :)
ReplyDeleteNah, maybe just flirting.
DeleteI like the first arrangement a lot. I have 2 different options thus far and a few ideas for a third but may not have time for it before your deadline.
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm so glad you're playing along Kris.
DeleteThree more great examples!
ReplyDeleteThe one from SGG has me wanting to find a big old classical metal urn and fill it with Aeoniums, wouldn't that be cool?
DeleteThey're all very nice, the last one is my favourite though!!
ReplyDeleteThey've got a lot of personality, those Aeoniums, don't they?
