My plant is just a little guy who gets to spend summer outside on the patio...
There was a baby in the hellstrip.
A seedling from the mother plant?
There was also an Opuntia tree, in a half barrel. Why not?
And tree sized Euphorbia tirucalli, another plant that for me is just a container plant. Outside in the summer, inside in the winter.
*sigh*...

DeleteLoree, how successful are you in getting that gorgeous color out of your Euphorbia tirucalli's? Sometimes my big boy comes close, but never like these. I'm almost wondering if our sun is too intense.

I have a couple of them, it's hit or miss though...one colors up really good, another not so much. I wish I knew why!

DeleteI like the baby Kalanchoe the best! Cute shape and size. Everything grows so well in S. CA, but I feel the same way about the PNW. You guys can grow the spring bulb plants and the lilacs and the apples that don't do as well in S. CA, right?

DeleteI saw a Kalanchoe like that recently at my local botanic garden and even I was surprised. It wasn't as tall as the specimen you came across but it was as wide and even more flower-laden if my memory serves me. As to the 'Sticks on Fire', they can be downright scary when they get to roof-top height! My old garden became a jungle over time and I find myself wondering if my current garden will grow out of control in time as well...

ReplyDeleteI remember my first sight of west coat plants when I was in my 20s. They still are other worldly to me all these years later.
ReplyDeleteIf only my Euphorbia would look like that. I can handle bringing it in every fall, and I am okay with it not obtaining that size. I just wish it would color up like those you saw.
