At first glance this strawberry potted Agave seems to be casting the greenhouse door wide open as if to say "Come on in and join the party..."
But then the pot morphs into a Banksia cone before my eyes and I hear John Williamson singing "Big Bad Banksia Man" and things start to get a little scary...
Thanks to Max Parker for planting the idea of the Banksia Men in my head. They come from the Snugglepot and Cuddlepie books of Australian author May Gibbs and are the villains in the stories. Their appearance is modelled on that of dried Banksia cones.

It kind of looks to me like an alien head with many eyes and Agave hair. I love the idea of a children's book character based on dried Banksia cones.
ReplyDeleteAgave hair, that's what I'm going to call a bad hair day from now on.
DeleteI'll be interested in seeing what company Banksia Man keeps inside that greenhouse!
ReplyDeleteSorry, no photos.
DeleteThis is so original!! I love it :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder what is going to go in all the little planting spaces?
ReplyDeleteoffsets :)
DeleteAha! Finally, an explanation for my apprehensions about Banksia!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize you were anti-Banksia?
DeleteWonderful! I think it looks like a giant pineapple! :)
ReplyDeleteFor those of us who can't grow Banksia, it looks a bit like a pineapple... Hey, Anna just said that too! :)
ReplyDeleteIs there anything more tantalizing than an open green house overflowing with plants?
ReplyDeleteNo!
DeleteI hadn't really thought of that agave as anything else, but now I won't be able to look at it without thinking of the things mentioned here and in the comments. I'm showing my age (or lack thereof) but it reminds me of a pokemon: https://www.google.com/search?q=exeggutor&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjDqZTs7c_LAhUB1mMKHTcWD3wQ_AUIBygB&biw=1422&bih=750&dpr=0.9
