No it’s not bankruptcy, or a stressed marriage…it’s a visit to the chiropractor. I’m one of the lucky ones…not prone to back issues, well, that is until the last two years. This year it was the Bishops Weed project that got me. Crouched over in an awkward position with my arms extended out in front of me, digging and sorting for days, my upper back finally said ENOUGH! I ignored it for a couple of months but finally had to admit it wasn’t going to get better without professional help. So here I am at the chiropractor, but instead of a lame medical office building there is this…
My dream, an atrium. Can you even imagine having a home with an interior atrium?
Of course the roof opens for sunny days and warm nights, and then you can close it up when the rain comes. And instead of a couple of trees I’ve have the space filled with Cactus, Agaves, Aloes…all sorts of huge colorful containers. Heaven…
So even at the chiropractor while I’m recovering from gardening I’m dreaming of gardening…
I love it! Not the part where you are at the chiropractor...but just consider this. With all the drama of the media and negative news we are constantly bombarded with, you have the peace of mind to be dreaming of gardens. I think that is bliss. Cheers, Jenni
ReplyDeleteGood point Jenni, maybe the fact that I'm not a TV watcher helps...
DeleteWow, this is the nicest medical building I've ever seen!
ReplyDeleteIt's a vintage remodel, they just don't make them like that anymore...
DeleteThat's a very relaxing courtyard! Anyhow, get well and hope you feel better soon :)
ReplyDeleteThanks guys!
DeleteI was at my chiropractor this week too. So glad to know I'm not the only one dreaming about an atrium as well.
ReplyDeleteI don't recall if I've ever mentioned it but I had the most amazing dream atrium/courtyard planned for my tiny house on a big lot in Spokane. Of course money got in the way of seeing that one through...
DeleteHand picked office just for you!!! The scenery is enough to make one relaxed.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly sets the right mood.
DeleteI've been there. Not the chiropractor though. I tried to plant 100 bulbs in one evening and gave myself a huge blister on my palm via repeated stabbing and twisting with my soil knife. I got to 75 before I had to quit.
ReplyDeleteDid you ever make it back to take care of the other 25?
DeleteSorry to hear about the back. I agree that space would look even better filled with succulents.
ReplyDeleteAnd the perfect environment for them too...
DeleteOh my goodness! I was actually thinking about that the other day.... Of course it all started with winning the lottery, and then building a house with an inner courtyard. I toiled with it being exposed at the South end or not. I think I decided I could live with exposed so long as I had industrial sized heaters. It would have to be located along one of the nice zone 9a locals making the inside of the courtyard 9b "ish."
ReplyDeleteI hope you are feeling better. Sore backs are the worst.
I love that you've actually thought this through! It pays to be prepared when one actually wins the lottery.
DeleteSo sorry about your back, Loree; that's what you'll get for messin' with a bishop! Hope the chiropractor does his magic and you feel better soon. So was the title of yesterday's entry "The rest the back yard?"
ReplyDeleteFunny I didn't even think of that (the title)!
DeleteOh no! I've had back problems for years. I've never been to the chiropractor, though. I hope it helps you. That is a very relaxing atrium. I'd love one too!
ReplyDeleteIt really does help, I've visited 4 times over the course of a couple of weeks and they've got me feeling almost normal!
DeleteThis chiropractor has style (though I notice those chairs look a bit hip and low for anyone with back issues.) I would love to have the restraint to do the courtyard of my dreams this minimally. I know any space I had would be packed with plants!
ReplyDeleteHope the visit(s) help and you're soon feeling much better!
Ha! Great point about the chairs. It's a mixed-use office building though so chances are the chiropractors didn't get much of a say in the decor.
DeleteIt's telling that even in pain you find a garden subject worth writing about. Hope the practitioner lives up to his environment.
ReplyDeleteOne track mind...
DeleteGreat space! Hope you get better quickly. Backs won't let you ignore them for long. I read the title of your previous post, "Rest of the Back ...," and thought, wow, how prophetic.
ReplyDeleteYa they do have a way of announcing their displeasure don't they? I'm so thankful that my issues are minor.
DeleteI'm so sad to hear of your back troubles...ugh! This IS a lovely envion and love the Loll furniture! Get better soon...
ReplyDeleteWow and you even know what brand it is, I'm impressed!
DeleteHope the back is easing up. Just catching up with your blog and can understand how you'd need a doc! DG is in fabulous shape -- and your back will be again too. (Those simple chairs are crying to be knocked-off)
ReplyDeleteThanks Denise!
DeleteHope you feel better soon. I know how you feel, I've done both my knees in. Beautiful plants and love the idea of the roof opening up. Would need to win the lottery to have that in my home.
