Urban Plants

Do you ever find yourself cheering for a plant that seems to be making it against all the odds? I do.
Go holly go!

  1. I'm not crazy about holly, but that one deserves respect!

Holly has it almost as bad as those poor tomato plants that millions of ignorant gardeners are forcing to grow by their toes thanks to the stupid marketers of that topsy turvy hanging thing. This is wrong on so many levels. Plants do so much for us, why can't we treat them with a little respect? END PLANT ABUSE NOW.

  3. Wow. Just wow.

I, too, admire those plants that manage to grow up through the cracks and in the empty lots of blighted urban areas. They have to be tough. This is one of the most amazing examples I have seen.

  4. I am fascinated by what comes up in the cracks in the pavement, in hell strips and no man's land. I am also equally entertained by urban wildlife.

  5. Wow that's lush for such a small space! I wonder if someone is tending to it?

  6. MuchMaid, agreed! On both counts.

Grace, you need to get T-shirts made with your slogan on (pink of course).

    Diana, tough as nails!

    Les, oh good point!

Laura, it's outside part of the building my husband works in...so I can vouch for it's ignored by all status.

  7. I do that all the time! Wonder if that holly was planted and then the concrete encroached, or did it come up as a weed? They do, so often! Amazing tenacity.
