Trying to look on the bright side of all the rain

Since the nonstop rain has bent my peony stems I don’t feel guilty cutting them and bringing them inside, where I can enjoy their fragrance.

  1. That peony is stunning, and perfectly suits its place there in front of your fireplace. Great color combos!

  2. Beautiful! Hopefully no ants hitchhiked in :)

  3. That colour rocks! I'm always afraid to bring in my Peony blooms. They are always alive with ants, and I never seem to get them all off. What's your secret?

  4. The color of your wall sets the peonies off to perfection. Glad you are enjoying guilt-free cutting.

  5. I have such bad Peony lust, I posted pictures of other people's all spring, since its hard to have them in a first year container garden on the roof. They are pretty much all gone in Virginia now so all I have left if my lust, which is pretty pale in comparison to the actual thing.

  6. MuchMaid, thank you! Almost 5 years later and I still haven't grown tired of that green shade!

Megan & Laura, I don't know if it's all the rain we've been having or the fact that I brought them in when the flowers were still in a tight ball...but I haven't seen a single one!

ricki, I left a few on the plant but they are about to open and if tomorrow is as bad as they are predicting then I guess they'll be coming in too!

Jessica, Peonies are a very lust worthy flower. So...'exuberant'!

At least yours are opening. Mine are pissed off at the January-in-June weather and refuse to show their faces. Picky things.

    But yours are lovely!
