While in the L.A. area and on my way to the Huntington Gardens, my car magically took a little side trip to Potted; home of the circle pot and inspiration for the book Potted by the shop's owners Annette Gutierrez and Mary Gray.
The day was December 21st and there were lots of shoppers mingling about inside, not so many outside though, in the "cold" (it's all relative, I thought it was lovely).
Color! (pow)
And plants, of course there were plants.
I need one of these dark sansevieria, perhaps I can find one at the Portland Nursery houseplant sale (starts today!, January 16th)
This beauty was what almost came home with me, Orthophytum magalhaesii.
They were only $18, but the leaves were so rigid I was afraid I would break them trying to smash it into my luggage.
Onward...
Love this guy, he was an aphid magnet in my garden though.
Hmm, also love those little guys with the dark leaves, in the center.
As I mentioned there were a lot of people inside the shop. I managed to grab a couple of shots without crowding anyone, or making them nervous.
I ended up leaving without purchasing anything. It was the first day of our week-long vacation and I knew there were be plenty of opportunities to buy other things that wouldn't fit in my carry-on bag.

Oh those pots! And you've just reminded me that my circle pot is stuck somewhere (since our remodel), waiting to be replanted...
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! Find that pot and get to it...
DeleteThis shop is just your style, I'm really surprised you didn't buy anything. I bought one of those dark sort of ruffled Echevaria at Watson's in the fall and it's already dead.
ReplyDeleteWell I have been before, and own several things from them...so I'm not completely immune.
DeleteLove reading your daily posts. A lot of work for you, a lot of pleasure for me. Like all those chairs to sit on, good for older folks like me. What's the name of the aphid magnet?
ReplyDeleteThanks Jane! I was afraid someone was going to ask the name of the Echeveria, which I cannot remember. Below it's called out as E. 'Zorro', but that doesn't seem quite right to me.
DeleteThank you for this drool-worthy post. I've never been to Potted, can you believe it?
ReplyDeleteWhat!? Well that's just not right.
DeleteLovely pots. I like those with the 3 legged metal stands, which go so well with the modern garden room furniture. And then there is their "live" POTTED sign on the wall (6th pic from bottom): amazing!
ReplyDeleteIt really is a fabulous shop.
DeleteThose orange chairs belong in your shade house
ReplyDeleteWhen shall I expect delivery? ;)
DeleteYou simply must start driving places so you can bring home more plants.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't that be nice?
DeleteSeeing your photos of all those decorated rooms almost makes me wish I had a small space to do this in. The aphid magnet echeveria looks like 'Zorro'. Not sure what I am doing right but mine is flourishing on my light stand. It's a real looker.
ReplyDeleteNice job with the Echeveria!
DeleteTheir merchandise really fits their name and concept. But my favorite thing may be the chalk drawing.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that great? It ended up on my Instagram feed too.
DeleteI love the patio pictures for ideas. The pots there, the hanging circle ones and the raised wood legged pots are in TJMaxx now for I am sure a lot cheaper. Good quality and exactly like those in picture.
ReplyDeleteI love Potted, but since I don't have nearly your self control for walking out with nothing, I'm not allowed to go very often!
