I knew there was a shipment from a friend in Denver on it's way to me, but I had no idea what exactly was coming my way. The box was so light as I carried it inside...
Hmm...
Oh my! A box full of Tillandsia!? How did I get so lucky?
My friend Shelia in Denver (Shelia Schultz aka one of the Denver Dirty Girls) is moving, a big move, and out of the country move. I knew she sold off her amazing plant collection, but I had no idea she had this many Tillandsia.
She decided rather than to sell them, she'd buy them airfare to other gardens...and this is just 1/3 of her collection. Two other lucky people also had a shipment show up at their door.
Thank you Shelia! I've been scheming on exactly what I'm going to do with my riches... I can't wait to make it happen! Maybe someday you can come visit them...

Wow! Lucky you! I love the idea that instead of selling them off she bought them airplane tickets.
ReplyDeleteMe too, and not just because I'm one of the lucky recipients.
DeletePlant people are the best! Sheila just proved it again with her generosity.
ReplyDeleteImagine if we somehow managed to elect a President with gardening experience...
DeleteHow awesome is that? Looking forward to seeing how you use them!
ReplyDeleteMe too.
DeleteOh my, lucky you!! Looking forward to seeing what you'll do with them!
ReplyDeleteFeeling very lucky.
DeleteSelling my cacti and succulent collection was tough because I had only kept my faves, luckily they all found great homes at the CO C& S Society sale at the Denver Botanic Gardens. I knew early on my T's would go to plant loving homes of my choice. I made the right decision and they will all be very happy living in areas that actually have humidity! Like everyone that understands Loree's ability to create beauty, I can't wait to see what she does with her gift!
ReplyDeleteThey went outside on Monday, and as though to welcome them it misted/drizzled all day yesterday. Thank you Shelia, for the gift and that that last line in your comment above.
DeleteI received a complimentary gift box and so far have no idea what I am going to do with all of them. A couple are destined for my 'Tillandsia Ficus', but now I have to put on my thinking cap. I'm going to keep them happy until find a permanent solution. Sheila shows how gardeners are the best! :)
DeleteWhat a great collection! I imagine your head is spinning with ideas.
ReplyDeleteIt is!
DeleteWhat a great surprise, though I must admit they never really look like plants. to me. Strange creatures.
ReplyDeleteReally? You crack me up. So do you have any?
DeleteLooks like you hit the mother lode... enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt's only right that your generosity comes back to you.
