This weeks vase is a simple one...
Flowers, and a little foliage, from Aucuba himalaica var. dolichophylla..
Just the lightest of yellow dots on the foliage, unlike the more boldly splotched Aucuba which I can't stand.
And a few pieces of bronze fennel, picked from the neighbors patch across the street – she said it was okay!
The bathroom shelf needed something new, this was just right.
Those little flowers are perfection.
And I'd love to grow the fennel but lordy that stuff can take over!

Oh, I adore this vase of flowers and foliage!
ReplyDeleteYay! Still waiting for you to participate Alison...
DeleteI do love this combination, and not a flower I have seen before - dynamic!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandra!
DeleteOkay... this is a winner! Those flowers are perfect.
ReplyDeleteYay!
DeleteBeautiful flowers against the foliage especially the bronze fennel. That reminds me that my fennel should be showing up soon.
ReplyDeleteAnd it makes me want to plant some, which is ridiculous when I see what it's doing in the neighbor's garden.
DeleteYou said it - those little flowers are perfection! I noticed what may be a fennel seedling in my own garden yesterday. I knew I should pull it but I didn't...
ReplyDeleteIt's hard! They're so pretty.
DeleteAn excellent combination of foliage and flowers. I'd never seen those Acuba flowers before but love them!
ReplyDeleteThey're little bits of perfection.
DeleteOh Loree, I do like the way you have linked the spots and dots on the different aucubas - and the fennel works really well with them. I know what you mean about fennel - I had a lovely brnze one but took it out because of its generosity with seedlings! Thanks for sharing your vase today
ReplyDeleteIt's such a lovely plant (the fennel) if it weren't so thuggish!
DeleteThere's that Acuba again! It's definitely growing on me. The variety of textures makes this one a winner.
ReplyDeleteYou do realize that's a different Aucuba...the plant lust mention has no spots!
DeleteWell, so that makes two that I could definitely go for.
DeleteNever knew Aucuba had cool flowers. So I remember telling you that my bronze fennel was so cool and did not seed about....It apparently heard me and now I have billions of seedlings! Strange things happen from year to year.
ReplyDeleteIt was a surprise to me too, when I fist saw them (the flowers), I felt like they were a bonus. Sorry about your seedlings, it would be such a perfect plant if not a thug.
DeleteOh the fennel makes it perfect.
ReplyDeleteI thought so too!
DeleteI think this is the most I've liked either of those plants. You make me appreciate them so much more. The Aucuba is nice, though I've killed several of the regular yellow-spotted ones and they've soured me a bit on the whole genus. They just blacken and die. Every time. I'd never paid attention to aucuba flowers before. Those are fantastic! Bronze fennel usually just looks weedy to me, but it's a perfect combination with the aucuba.
