I see this scene at least 3 times a day when I return home from walking the dog, sometimes even more than that. It never fails to thrill me. Left to right is Brachyglottis greyi (used to be known as Senecio greyi), Amsonia hubrichtii, Canna x generalis 'Tropical Bronze Scarlet,' Agave ovatifolia, Yucca rostrata, Rhamnus frangula (Fine Line Buckthorn).

That is gorgeous, with those luscious bright red Canna leaves in the middle of all that blue-gray.

DeleteYour combination does look good. The the deep burgundy is a great accent to ground the silvery foliage. Might need to add a few of those next year.
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with that canna, so perfect! You can't tell in my photo (duh!) but the dark color of the house plays into that mix well too.

DeleteStunning combination! The shiny burgundy leaves of the canna look like stained glass with the sun shining through them and the contrast with the glaucous foliage is swoon worthy, to say nothing of the shape contrasts.

DeleteWhat a beautiful assembly of plants. The purple/silver combination is great, I'll have to think up some plants too that will do that. I planted a Cotinus this year that would look good with some silvers. I looked up the Yucca rostrata and it slowly gets taller, so I'm wondering how this will look in a few years. I suppose it would slowly exceed the canna in height.
ReplyDeleteOh yes a cotinus with some silver/blue plants would look lovely. And you're right about the yucca getting taller, but I think the canna's will will in the short term. They've grown about 5" just since I took that picture!
