I have some predictions for 2013 and yes I’m actually going to write them here knowing that come December 31st 2013 you’ll be able to look back and see if I was right. It’s a lot of pressure but here goes…

  1. I am going to buy new plants this year, more than ten; you’re going to buy new plants too, more than one.
  2. There will be some fabulous new blogs started and we’ll be introduced to new gardens and new ways of looking at plants.
  3. In February I’ll go to the garden shows (YG&P and NWFG) and catch a fever… spring fever.
  4. On March 13th danger garden will have an anniversary…I’ll have been blogging 5 days a week for 4 years!
  5. Sometime in April I will complain about the non-stop rain.
  6. Sometime in May I will experience that giddy “OMG summer is coming!” feeling and post about it here.
  7. The Garden Bloggers Fling will be held in San Francisco, CA in June and many wonderful people will gather there. Fabulous gardens will be visited; thousands of photos will be taken, friendships will be made.
  8. Sometime in July I’ll buy a new agave.
  9. In October I’ll post some pictures of autumn leaves and try to put on a brave face about summer ending. You’ll all see right through me though.
  10. In December I’ll use the phrase “the year went so fast!” at least once in a blog post. Because it will have.

Whatever the New Year holds for us I hope it includes lots of time in the garden, time spent with friends and a big dose of peace and happiness for everyone. Here's to a great 2013!

    1. I wonder if it will go as fast (faster?) than 2012. I hope not!

  3. Step aside Jean Dixon, Loree has 2013 nailed! Hail, oh wise seer! Your sagacious prognostication skill baffles us all!

  4. I think you're clairvoyant, Loree!

I hope you will find 2013 a wonderful year of gardening, plants, gardening friends old and new, and lots and lots of sun!

    Happy New Year!

    1. Sun! Yes...that's a very good wish, I second it. Today was beautiful, almost made up for waking to my deflated Echium and Euphorbia stygiana (they perked up later but man was it cold!).

  6. Happy New Year Loree! I love your predictions. I should stick with goals that I absolutely know I can make.

From your comment on my blog I take it you finally had a frost there. You held it off as long as you could with the power of wishful thinking, but it had to come at last. I hope you make it to the Fling. You mentioned something somewhere (maybe on outlaw's blog?) about a Portland bloggers swap, and if I remember correctly invited us both. That sounds like fun. And I'm looking forward to discovering fabulous new blogs!

    1. Yep, We hit 29 Friday night, then 30, 30 and finally 25 last night. It was cold!

So far the husband is 100% behind the fling (he won't be attending, but we'd drive down together and he'd do his own thing while I attend the official functions). I'm still holding my breath about the cost though. That could be the only deal breaker. And yes, you guys are so invited to the Portland GB plant swap, and email will go out when we get closer to the event.

    1. Thanks guys! Part of me wants to try and convince you to come to the Fling in June and then drive up to Portland/Seattle when it's over. It would be a busy vacation but VERY fun!

    1. Thanks Adam, and I wish the same for you. Have you ever thought of starting a blog? I'd love to see more of your garden throughout the seasons.

    2. Hmmm, creative writing isn't one of my strengths Loree, so the chances of me writing a blog are next to nothing.

I just post my annual set of photos on some of the forums that I visit and that's it really.

    3. Ah well, I figured no harm in asking. Please, if you think of it, let me know when you post photos (that regular people can take a look at), I'd love to see them!

  12. I hope you haven't gone too far out on a limb, or painted yourself in a corner with those bizarre predictions.

    1. I know, I took a real chance. But if you don't take risks then I believe you never really grow as a person (or blogger) so I just decided to go for it.

  13. I like your predictions, but I LOVE what you did with your header (and here I thought I was making great strides by figuring out how to put some simple lettering into a photo). Getting it to bleed into the background is brilliant. I'm going to try that next.

    1. I am still sufferer withdrawal from InDesign, the program I used at my former employer. I tried to do that with Picasa (the program I use to edit my photos) but it wouldn't let me bleed the letters. Finally a very old version of Photoshop came to my rescue. I should have asked Santa for InDesign for Christmas, but at almost $700 it's probably too rich for his blood.

    2. Aha! That explains a lot. I still mourn the days when I could justify staying up to date with all the fancy Adobe products.

  14. DG - I love it! What a fun post! Will you be going to the fling? I'm strongly leaning towards it. Happy New Year! Cheers, Jenni
