Devastating loss at the Washington Park Arboretum

Last February I shared a few pictures from a brief stop at the Washington Park Arboretum in Seattle (link). I vowed to go back and take better pictures the next time I was in town. Turns out that might not be possible as some very selfish and violent individuals visited the park last week; chopping and trashing. They left some plant pieces behind, and took others...see a news clip about it here: The Next Generation Gardener. I hope this crime does not go unpunished.

  1. That's awful! What a crime, they were beyond selfish and unthinking.

Check for party photos out there and see if any of the "decorations" show up. Check the trash at frat houses.

  2. I don't understand vandalism anywhere. What on earth do people get out of destroying things?
I do hope they catch these people, and soon, before they strike again.
They did catch the guy who poisoned the Treaty Oak, in Austin. He's in jail.

  3. So incredibly sad that anyone would do such a blindly selfish thing. I want to be understanding, but it's hard not to want to punish the hell out of whomever perpetrated this vandalism.

  5. I hope they can find out who did this, I heard about it too on the news. It looks like they did it last year at about the same time. It really pissed me off.

  8. I read about that and was sooooooo sad! people can be really cruel. I don't think certain people quite understand the affects their actions have on other people.

  9. That's absolutely awful. Do we need to install security cameras even in gardens now?
