Happy Thanksgiving!
My holiday plans took an unexpected turn. We were planning a drive to Spokane, WA, to spend Thanksgiving with my family; this would have been my first Thanksgiving at home since 2003. Unfortunately it isn’t going to happen. I spent a couple of days being immensely bummed about this. Then finally my head cleared and I got over it. I have so much to be thankful for, for instance that I even have a family to (almost) be with and a loving husband to spend a quiet holiday at home with. For the fact that last month I was able to spend a few days with my brother and his family in Arizona, and my husband’s family in New Mexico. For the friend of 25 years who flew to Portland last weekend to visit and another of 17 years who is planning a visit in January. And for the fact that I have you all! The gardening and plantaholic friends I’ve met through this blog, both in “real-life” and the virtual world. I am blessed and I am thankful. Whatever you’re doing for the holiday (if you are here in the USA and celebrating) I hope you have the love of friends and family around you, even if they aren’t sitting at the same table enjoying the Thanksgiving meal with you. (the Thanksgiving "mood pictures" in this post are from two of my favorite local shops, great places to do your holiday shopping! The owl gourd and white squirrel are from Digs on Alberta Street; the velvet pumpkins, cut flowers and wreath are from Ink & Peat on Williams Ave. Both are participating in a Black Friday promotion here in Portland for local businesses called Little Boxes, click here to learn more about it, including how to save 10% on your purchases!)

ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and your husband. I think we have spent some rather lonely thanksgivings in the past but at least we weren't truly alone. I'm sure there are many people who are. We are blessed.
