These photos date back to December 31st of 2023, New Years Eve a year ago. I don't normally keep photos on my phone for long, but somehow these have been hanging out and waiting to be used for over a year now. Their quiet beauty reminds me of the day, how optimistic I was feeling then.
The last sunset of that year...
So many thoughts, hopes, fears. Of course I didn't know it then, but the year ahead (2024) turned out to be a pretty good one for me. Although it must be noted that two weeks after I took these photos we were hit with a winter storm remarkable for its garden destruction. I've been holding my breath this year, fearful of a repeat.
Oh 2025, what have you got in store for us? It all feels so precarious.
Happy New Year Loree, it was wonderful to meet you this year. I can see why you saved those photos for as long as you did, they were meant to be shared. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I got to meet you too! BTW, your garden is on my list to visit someday... I can't wait!
DeleteYou have no idea how happy that makes me!
DeleteLovely photos, all worth sharing. It's been hard for me to avoid trepidation about 2025, with apprehension about drought and of course the political and world situations. But I remind myself that each year provides its surprises, both positive and negative, so I'm going to face all with hope and slow, mindful breathing. Best wishes for you, your family and your garden.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing to remember, those surprises, both positive and negative.
DeleteBeautiful. I see why these photos stayed on your phone longer than usual. Thanks for sharing everything that you share.
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking the time to comment!
DeleteHappy New Year, Loree! Here's wishing that 2025 will be better than we expect.
ReplyDeleteI like that low-bar sentiment. It won't take much to be better!
DeleteI keep thinking winter weather has been mild so far... and then remember last January and brace myself -for whatever comes next.
ReplyDeleteFabulous mossy goodness -where were those photos taken? More moss and wonderful garden wishes for 2025!

The photos were taken at Dodge Park: "Located at the confluence of the Sandy and Bull Run rivers, Dodge Park is a playground in Portland’s backyard. Just 20 miles east of Portland, the park offers year-round picnicking, fishing, and boating." (https://www.portland.gov/water/visit-dodge-park)
DeleteI wish you and your family a Happy, Healthy New Year, Loree. Looking forward to your posts!
ReplyDeleteThank you Nancy, I appreciate you visiting the blog and commenting as much as you do!
DeleteBeautiful images, Loree. At this time of year, I'd rather be in your part of the country. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWell, here we are. 2025. May there be at least one good thing each day to light our ways forward.
