It's Vignette week! Day one: winter

I briefly considered taking the week off, people tend to do other things this week, besides read garden blogs. Plus I've been blogging Monday thru Friday since March 13, 2009 — without missing a day — that's 2,344 posts (thank you very much) a vacation wouldn't be out of line. Then I decided maybe I'd simply have a vignette week.

So I found four images to share, each of them representing a season of the year gone by. Winter is represented by a shot I took with my phone while stuck in traffic, looking across the Willamette River towards downtown Portland. The blue sky, fog, and sunshine combined to make a magical moment.

Weather Diary, Dec 25: Hi 33, Low 28/ Precip .15" of ice — the ground and plants are covered with ice, a little snow, and more ice...and have been since Sunday afternoon..

    1. A little snow on Sunday afternoon. After there was ice that morning. And more ice that night. You know what snow between ice becomes? More ice. And it's still there. And holding temperatures down. So it will probably still be there tomorrow. I am tired of living in the ice capitol of the PNW.

  3. Vignette week is a wonderful idea. Taking time off is a great idea too, you deserve a bit of a break as one of the hardest working garden bloggers out there!

  6. That's a wonderful skyline photo. Who knew that getting stuck in traffic could have an upside?! I'm sorry about the ice, Loree. I hope you get a warm-up soon.

    1. The low of 23 yesterday morning, combined with below freezing temps and ice for 3 days now is just heartbreaking.

  9. Vignettes is a good idea for this week. We hosted the family Xmas on Sun, tomorrow is a baby shower, and NY's Day our annual brunch for 20 or 30 people, so I am doing the bare minimum this week.

  11. 2,344 posts. Hard to get my head around this number, and your dedication is applauded. You deserve more then a week off, but selfishly I'm glad you aren't taking it. This is a beautiful winter scene.

  12. Five days a week for THAT LONG???? Wow, I am in awe... By comparison, I can barely manage once a week. But, I do love the idea of Vignette Week. So, since I've missed half of the four days, maybe I'll just do an all-season post in one fell swoop. Is that even allowed?

  13. "Wow" on all the posts Ms. Danger, and I'm grateful that was you and not me doing that. On the seasonal vignettes, I wish I could join in!

Sending out virtual darts of our burning sun as your xmas present...
