Need more proof that (almost) all the cool nurseries are in the Pacific Northwest? Here's an excerpt from the latest Far Reaches Farm newsletter: "Yesterday was pretty fun here at the nursery as we went into town and came back with several copies of the March issue of Martha Stewart Living which just happens to feature Far Reaches Farm! What a great affirmation of the company vision and validation of the hard work by the crew and volunteers over the years....No swelled heads here - a day of shoveling compost to mulch the shade garden took care of any temporary inflation. Really sorry for you folks in the grips of winter but we are having abnormally warm weather and next week will be in the low 60's."

That warm weather they mentioned? I've already had to put away my flannel pajamas and local shop Xera is already open for the season and Thicket opens on Saturday, can we just call winter over here in the Pacific NW?
One more thing: a couple years back I did a book review of a terribly fantastic children's book called Dangerously Ever After featuring a decidedly different princess named Amanita, do you remember it? Perhaps this will ring a bell..."Princess Amanita loved things that were dangerous. She loved her pet scorpion, and her brakeless bicycle, and her collection of daggers and broken glass…But most of all she loved her garden, which was said to be the most dangerous in the world”.
Dashka Slater, the author, wrote to me last week to let me know the book is being made into a stop-motion film, or at least they're in the midst of a crowd funding campaign to finance the film. Are you curious? Check it out here. As of my writing they're at 17% funding, not bad and every little bit helps - swag starts at as low as $15!
