Let's play "Where's Lila?"...

"Where's Lila?" is a game I frequently find myself playing when I'm working in the garden. One minute she's there beside me and the next minute I have no idea where's she's gone...

And just when I think I've got her hiding places all noted she goes and discovers a new one.

Too easy...

Dark and relatively cool, the garage is a favorite spot.

Can you spot the pony? (okay yes she's a dog, but pony is her nick-name)

Under a table under the shade pavilion, she must be practicing her earthquake preparedness.

  1. Ooooo, I love that game! You go, Lila girl! She's pretty good at it.

  2. How sweet! I like her horsetail reed hiding spot. Nice tour of the garden too.

  3. Oh she's good at finding sneaky hiding spots!

I play this game routinely with Aries, as a cat, he's particularly good at finding the sneaky hiding spots. But the birds are just as good at spotting him regardless (he just watches them, at 18 years old, he has little interest in actually trying to catch them). Me, on the other hand, sometimes I have to really look. Heh.

Such a cutie, that Lila! I have cats. You would not like them in your garden. They love to make wallows in the yarrow and Mexican feather grass where they take afternoon naps. Unsightly cat crop circles! But Lila is more refined.

    1. Oh you'd be surprised Sandy. She somehow managed to sneak into the joint grass without damage but when she lays in the liriope in front of the stock tanks she leaves a rather large "depression"...she's just so darn cute though I can't get mad.

  5. It's good that Lila is keeping you on your toes, Loree.
Our kitty, Mouche, (some years ago at our last house) would hide in the woody herb bed where it was cool. She would come back in the house smelling wonderful!

    1. Ha! That's a god kitty! I think all my herbs are planted high enough Lila couldn't get in the containers, then again I had no idea she's climb up into the joint grass tank either...

  6. Don't you wonder what our little companions are thinking when they hear us calling and calling and (in a more urgent tone of voice) calling....

    1. Yes I do! In Lila's case she's almost deaf, I still call and call...little good that it does me.

  8. No, I didn't manage to spot Lila in every photo! She is a sensible girl to seek out the coolest spots in the garden. On the few really hot days, here in the UK, pour two dogs actually dig themselves little scrapes under the pampas grass !

    1. I watched Brody (Cistus Nursery dog) dig himself a nice cool hole in the bin of potting soil the other day. It was so warm I kind of wanted to join him.

  9. Clever Lila! I had to squint on the first two photos of her hidden behind the Equisetum on the stock tank and only confirmed it with the third photo. And she seems careful too when hiding among plants, they look untrampled :)

    1. For the most part they are/she is...

    2. This is my kind of garden art. That face! Equisetum and stock tanks both need to be pre-loaded with Lila faces. She improves the surroundings.

  10. Not bad, but she really needs to get some camouflage to blend in with surroundings better!

    1. The white face isn't helping is it?

    2. Ha ha! No.

She needs some face paint like Marlon Brando in Apocalypse Now...

  11. LOL. She seems to prefer softer-leaved plants. Does she ever get poked into or out of her hidey-holes?

    1. Nope she's very aware of the plants to avoid, then again it probably helps that they're all in the sun and she's looking for shady cool.

  12. Hehe, what a cute series of photographs! Is she actually in that first one? These old eyes cannot spot her.

  14. She must be part cat. Or she's just always ready for her close-up.

  15. She's so adorable! They say that pets take after their people. Cute & clever, the rule certainly applies here.

  16. Hahaha! This had me grinning from ear to ear. She always has that same semi-grumpy look on her face. Very cute.

  17. I'm so glad I got to meet her. What a sweetie. Is that lounge chair is exclusively hers? I bet you are always doing something in the garden, never lounging.

    1. She shares her chair with me every once and awhile.
