Is that Bing Crosby? Sure looks like his stunt double. You know Bing grew up in Spokane (my hometown).
This woman (my apologies), but I see the Wicked Witch of the West. No doubt she's a wonderful woman and I should be ashamed of myself for typing that.
Here I love the absolute whiteness of her dress, almost ghostly.
These two are such a handsome couple, so stylish! I wish I knew where the photo was taken, and why there are so many rocks!
This pair (mother and son?) caught between the columnar cactus and the paddle cactus. One looks a little worried, the other cool as a cucumber.
The Bit at the End
Speaking of plant people, this story—The Curious Story of Curious Flora Nursery—is the wonderful tale of how Annie's Annuals reopened as Curious Flora. It makes my heart happy.

I LOVE these photos! I think these would make a great little book. I'd be the first to buy it!
ReplyDeleteYour blog was the first I started to follow and has been a major source of inspiration over the years. I'm so glad we got to hang out earlier this year. Here's looking forward to more adventures to come!
Oh that would be fun, a book of people posing with plants. Andrew better get busy and start buying more photos! Here's to (many) more plant adventures ahead!
DeleteI love making up stories about people, whether they're depicted in photos or just individuals you come across in passing. Many years ago, when I used to ride a bus to and from work, I conjured up identities for other passengers. (Bus rides were generally boring.)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the "bits" you're adding to your posts. I'm enjoying them.
OMG, yes! I love making up stories about my fellow passengers when waiting for a flight. Which now that I think of it, I haven't flown since last March, wow. Thanks for mentioning the "bits"!
DeleteI love these! Great photos
ReplyDeleteYay!
DeleteI love the photos. I remember you have shown photos from Andrew in the past. Such fun. I read the article on Curious Flora Nursery. I am glad they have a great new leader of the business, and all the employees can still have their jobs. I worked at a greenhouse for 5 years, and it isn't like any other job. It really becomes your life and means so much.
ReplyDeleteOh, where was the greenhouse you worked in? And what were your responsibilities? I love learning about people's lives in the world of plants.
DeleteBel Air Gardens was in Bellingham, MA, and I worked there during the 1970s. It was family-owned, and we sold outdoor plants, indoor plants, plant products, and there was a shop attached that sold handmade items, like for the holidays, etc. I worked mostly in the greenhouse, caring for plants, but also ran the cash register and helped with classes on gardening. We lived in Woonsocket, RI, but it was only about 5 miles over the border to the garden center.
DeleteI’m thankful that you are one of my IRL plant people, Loree. We connected early on when I began blogging in 2009, and you have opened my eyes to so many new plants and genera. Plant people truly are the best, as your pictures above can attest!
ReplyDeleteI reread an early blog post the other day and you and rickii were the first to comment. We certainly go way back! I'm glad you're one of my IRL plant people too!
DeleteFun photos! We're thankful for you, too, Loree!
