Our lunch stop on Saturday of the Garden Fling was at Sorci’s Italian Cafe and the VanLierop Garden Market "Fresh flowers, great plants and found objects for home and garden" in Sumner, WA (about 20 minutes east of I-5 as it works through Tacoma).
Flinger's finishing up their lunch...
... and just relaxing enjoying the great vibe of this place.
Love that 3-tier shelf! (eating Flinger's faces obscured becasue nobody looks good while they're chewing).
In addition to an interesting selection the prices here were fantastic.
I had to rearrange the contents of my car (plant crates that held the Little Prince of Oregon swag haul on the way up, my swag, plants I bought, and another I was hauling for a friend, plus luggage!) to fit in the bench. I may have bought even more if space hadn't been an issue.
There were plants too, and inside the shop (where I didn't take any photos) there were flowers.
I definitely need to add this market to my list of places to stop when I'm in the area. It's a little out of the way for me (off the I-5 corridor) but oh so good!

I have lust in my heart.
ReplyDeleteHa! I know just how you feel. Looking at these photos I was lusting after many things.
DeleteThat was the only stop in which I didn't just inhale my lunch. The food was excellent and I needed a real break at that point but I do regret that I didn't even cruise through the market area. I'm all the more regretful after seeing your post.
ReplyDeleteOh no! Yes, you missed a lot of good things, not that you could have gotten them home.
DeleteThat was a really sweet little town with lots of individual little shops and eaterys--nice to see it hopping. The market/garden was a lot of fun as well, and you got a great piece there. My favorites were the assembled-from-junk Cupolas on the buildings. They were so cool!
ReplyDeleteI do hope to make it back to wander the streets a bit, it looked like there were many great shops.
DeleteI've never been to sumner: this fun upcycling center (and good food) could change that. I'd love to check out their rusty offerings.
ReplyDeleteChavli
Go! As Hoover Boo mentions above there were a lot of great shops nearby.
DeleteOh, there are some treasures. That 3 tiered table is great, and I'm drawn to those stovepipey things. Really cool!
ReplyDeleteYou'd skipped out at this point and missed it in person, yes? Bummer!
DeleteI left right when the busses arrived here - it did look fun to walk around. And I was starving, missed a good lunch too!
DeleteThe one stop where I don't remember much of anything at all. I must have been pretty out of it. I sort of remember maybe a sandwich and the crowd rushing in when the tiramisu arrived.
ReplyDeleteYikes! I remember chatting with you and Jill and you seemed like you were okay.
DeleteWow, what a cool little find! I’m SO glad it’s in Sumner, not easy to get to! Loved the deep tray? full of decoys 😂
ReplyDeleteGood point. If it were right on I-5 it might be too easy.
DeleteWhy didn't I buy something ?
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't you!? Car and all...
DeleteI would absolutely have bought one of those plant tables and some of the metal garden art had I been in a car and not plane-bound. It was a cool nursery. After I took a leisurely look around, I walked down the main street and checked out a couple more shops. Cute town!
ReplyDeleteI wish I would have been up for exploring a bit (pesky knee). At least I am close enough that I can do it someday...
