Wednesday Vignette, that was then

I have no idea where this photo came from exactly, it showed up in an image folder having nothing to do with my garden... obviously dragged there by a lazy mouse (or a inaccurately moving hand operating that mouse). The name of the photo includes the date, February 14, 2020. At first I was confused... on February 14th the garden was covered in snow! Then my eyes settled on the year. Uh, duh, last year. And so it is.

Sometimes I am struck by the beauty of my garden. A gift of not seeing the things I need to do, just admiring what I see. This was just such a moment. Lucky.

  1. Your readers are struck by the beauty of your garden every time you post about it. The Arctostaphylos in the photo always takes my breath away.

  2. Back in 2017 you wrote about your experiments growing agaves outside (one had a PVC/shower curtain cover.) Others (Agave americana) were uncovered. Any updates?

    1. I've been bad about filing regular agave reports, my most recent was in 2018 (http://www.thedangergarden.com/2018/10/an-agave-report-october-2018-part-i.html) I definitely need to do a follow up, thanks for the push.

  3. Beautiful. And documentation of what a weird year we have had (weather and otherwise).

  6. As gardeners, we pursue our passion. We take photos, generally forgotten. When they reemerge... they can give us insight into what we were thinking in the building of what makes us smile. The beauty of the past and the continuing future. For me, that's what gardening is about.

  7. I love your Manzanita, it is pruned to perfection. The Fatsia isn't too shabby either!

    1. That fatsia lost a branch yesterday. It was making walking the sidewalk to the front door impossible for all but short people like me.

    1. So many of this years flowers were causalities of the ice... very sad!
