Our last day in Austin Andrew and I walked South Congress Ave. Me, being me, I took a lot of plant photos. You'll see them all eventually, but today I really wanted to share this bit of Agave ovatifolia goodness. I love the simple repetition, and how the grass looks a little like water, pouring over the edge of the metal.

Yes! Simple repetition is good. And the letters shadowed in the window are great too.
ReplyDeleteI liked that too!
DeleteVery well done. A whole line of whales sticking their tongues out of the water.
ReplyDeleteTouché!
DeleteAustin is definitely Agave ovatifolia country!
ReplyDeleteIndeed.
DeleteI'm enjoying seeing Austin through your eyes. Such a great example of less is more. I am redoing a garden bed and having a hard time limiting the plants I'm using.
ReplyDeleteMinimalism would be easier in a commercial planting like this.
DeleteA great combo. A pity about the graffiti. I find that practice annoying!
ReplyDeleteI agree! A couple of wooden fences and a car were recently tagged nearby. So destructive.
DeleteI like the way the grass softens the edges of the metal.
ReplyDeleteMe too, like a waterfall.
DeleteI didn't notice the graffiti until Eliza mentioned it, but now that I do, it seems pretty restrained and doesn't really detract from the planting. Noodly pale echoes of the bold, pale agave. The grass also softens their effect.
ReplyDeleteIt was so repetitive (like the Agaves) I kind of wondered if it had been done on purpose.
DeleteWonderful contrast between the fine-textured grasses and the heft of the Agaves. Lovely combo indeed!
ReplyDeleteAnna
The designer speaks!
DeleteIf only I could Photoshop the graffiti out of this otherwise perfect picture.
ReplyDeleteI have an aversion to graffiti which is nothing but vandalizem of private and public property. I wish someone invented glow in the dark paint that sprayed right back on the offender and didn't wash off for weeks.
I love that idea!
DeleteSimple and beautiful. And sexy.
