Wednesday Vignette - those were the days!

I've been saving this one, I knew there would be a day when I'd forgotten what summer in the garden looks like...

Acanthus sennii, Lomatia tinctoria, Alstoemeria isabellana, and Yucca desmetiana in the sun. Echium candicans 'Star of Madeira' in the shade. Wednesday Vignettes is hosted by Anna at Flutter & Hum.

    1. Thanks for the nudge Tim, I should have identified the plants! (done now). And yes...I do understand the desire for lower hardiness numbers...oh I do.

  3. What a lovely combination! I love the textures you've combined here with the dramatic lighting. We all need a reminder of summer on these January days. Happy New Year!

  4. Barbra Streisand is singing "Memories, light the corners of my mind..." in my brain. Those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end... Obviously this warm picture makes me want to sing. Thanks for helping us remember.

    1. You know how you sometimes just repeat the lyrics mindlessly, without ever questioning if what you thought they were saying ever made sense? Wait, of course not. You wouldn't do that. I do. "Memories, light the corners of my mind..." has always been "Memories, like the corners of my mind..." ha! Now I know...

  7. Was ordering plants today to take my mind off the weather. But I kept looking out the windows trying to remember what the garden looks like without snow, thinking about where I would put things. Hope your snow has melted.

    1. I'd offer you the same wish but I doubt a melt will occur there anytime soon. Ours is 99.5% gone.

  8. Ah, lovely! Hope the two Acanthus sennii that I planted last fall survive the winter and come back well.

  9. So pretty! Even your agaves in snow are beautiful (if deadly), but I'm sure your garden will look just as good as this again next late spring!
