A trip back to the The Bloedel Reserve

The Bloedel Reserve was a stop on the 2011 Garden Bloggers Fling held in Seattle, WA. I'll be honest, I wasn't thrilled at the idea of visiting, however the garden won me over with it's serene (green) vistas.

It was quintessentially Pacific Northwest, in more ways than one...

Want to see more? My original post on the visit is here.

I have a feeling I'm going to be saying this on every post this week (as I relive a few garden destinations) but I really do need to go back and spend some time here, soon...

This post is part of a week long series looking back at earlier garden visits and my posts on them. All material © 2009-2014 by Loree Bohl for danger garden. Unauthorized reproduction prohibited and just plain rude.

  1. I've only visited once but thought it was an amazing estate garden. Did you notice the large old Schefflera delavayi on the back side of the house?

    1. You know I can't say that I did...and we spent a lot of time out back as that's where the photography workshop was held...

  2. Aah...water, moss, geese and the full spectrum of green. I love this place, and I haven't even been there yet.

  3. Not the usual kind of garden you feature on your blog (no agaves!!) but the calming and serene character of the place is undeniable making it worth the highlight!

    1. I kind of want to sneak in an agave and plant it somewhere, they really need one.

    2. Are you sure you just didn't look hard enough?

  4. Oh, love that garden! I don't have the self control to stick to serene green at my garden, but I love to see it elsewhere for a change.

    1. It's certainly a great way to recognize just how many shades of green there are.

  5. So green! We have family from Seattle coming this evening from their base in Orange County (they're looking into various colleges for my nephew). My husband warned them that rain was expected here, concerned that it would affect their drive, and they just laughed.

    1. If you read my latest comment on your blog then you know we recently visited Denise (AGO). She mentioned the same concern, for the rain that was forecast back on the 17th. I had the same reaction but then remembered just how scary it can be on the road with people who are freaked out about driving conditions.

  6. Way more lawn than I care for, but otherwise I love it! So lush and green. Never been but always wanted to go.

    1. Yep, a lotta lawn. Did you click through to the original post? All the mowing was pretty hilarious.

    2. Ha! I did, but I must have glazed over when I got to the lawn photos. Just took a second look. Too funny!
