Saturday was the day that all of Portland finally breathed a huge sigh of relief. Blue sky, sun, warmth (our first day in the 80's!)…life is good. For me it meant the first coffee on the patio in pj’s and getting to see the morning light hit the back garden plants for the first time this year (yes, it’s been that bad). Days like this I’m pretty sure I live in the most beautiful place on earth.
Sunshine is always so comforting. I'm glad you are having a nice weekend. The plants love it too! We are enjoying a nice sunny weekend also here in So. Cal.
Sounds nice you can finally warm up some, while enjoying the fruits of your labors! 2-3 weeks ago, we went from sitting comfortably on the patio until 10 am, to now only 1 hour after sunrise, then too warm. Soon, it will be too warm in the shade after 9! Nice how the early sun lights up everything!
I'm drinking in every blessed minute of this charmed weekend. And what is that strange/cool orangey plant with the white balls at its base (sounds slightly questionable when I see it written, but not intentional....seventh pic down)?
Nice that you made got to take in the sun along with your plants. You've found some nice backlit foliage effects. We had a great day down here too. It was a little cool by dinnertime, but it was too great a day to end it inside!

ReplyDeleteSoak that sun up!
Fabiana, isn't it always sunny in SoCal?
ReplyDeleteDD, yikes...maybe I am not cut out to be a SW resident after all!
MulchMaid, that is Araeococeus flagellifolius, "an unusual bromeliad that looks like a maroon-orange grass" from Rare Plant Research.

ReplyDeleteseconded! I actually found myself watering a few things around the garden this weekend.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear you are finally getting your share of sunshine. Looks like your plants are enjoying their day in the sun.
ReplyDeleteThe weather was really nice, wasn't it? I want MORE. :)
ReplyDeleteIts as if an anxiety has been pushed out of all of Portland!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you captured the spirit of the day. I got so absorbed in gardening that the camera never came out.
ReplyDeleteFantastic set of photos, you've captured the mood perfectly! I've always thought gardens look at their best on warm, sunny mornings.
ReplyDeleteJames, it was a gorgeous day...and hopefully just the first of a summer full of them!
ReplyDeleteRyan, I stupidly transplanted a couple of things on Friday so I too was watering!
Bom, I think several things grew at least 2" that day!
Grace...me too!
Lauren, everyone was walking around with crazy smiles on their faces weren't they!?
ricki, nothing wrong with that!
Mark and Gaz, especially if there is just the tiniest bit of dew on the ground!
