After they spent a full day in the trunk of our rental car I couldn't wait to get my new plants out, into the light at our hotel in Ventura, CA. Once done I sat down in the cushy hotel chair and had to laugh at the vignette I'd (unintentionally) created. Then I took a photo, of course.
The view from outside isn't quite as dreamy. In fact Andrew was concerned I might be pushing the limits of acceptable behavior.
Left to right: Grevillea pteridifolia, Senna artemisioides, grafted cactus thingies, Euphorbia flanaganii...

Where did you find that Euphorbia flanaganii? It's awesome.
ReplyDeleteSunset Nursery, Denise (AGO) mentioned it in a blog post and since I knew I would be nearby I made note!

Nice haul! Can't believe that you bought grafted cactus thingies after we've both mocked them. I got some last summer and not in the muted color of yours but rather in those seemingly unnatural day glo colors. Euphorbia flanaganii is such an interesting plant, each one is such an individual! A cool vignette today!
ReplyDeleteI loved the color of those "grafted cactus thingies" and had to have them. Crazy right?
DeleteAaah, how I love the words "plant haul."
ReplyDeleteYou were quite restrained, but you had to pack everything into a suitcase, right?
Actually I carried them all on in a tote bag. The suitcase was being checked and already busting at the seams.
DeleteLove it! Nigel would be accusing me of unacceptable behavior too, if I did something similar, but really, he should talk, right?
ReplyDeleteRight! I had to admit the plastic bags weren't the best look but I didn't want to get moisture on the window sill.
DeleteThat Euphorbia looks like an escapee from Pan's Labyrinth (in a good way).
ReplyDeleteYes indeed!
DeleteCute! I agree with Ricki. As always, Loree, you've found some awesome plants. Great vignette for today!
ReplyDeleteThank you Beth. I could have bought so much more...
DeleteThe Grevillea and the Senna are new to me but I look forward to seeing them in your garden. Did you get to the Australian Native Plants Nursery?
ReplyDeleteI did, it was wonderful! (and both of the plants you mention came from there)
DeleteThat Euphorbia flanaganii is great and so interesting looking. I assume it will go in a pot? Also, I have one of those sennas and they're great. Mine is about to start blooming.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed, into a container for the Euphorbia. Jo, owner of the Australian Native Plant nursery where I purchased the Senna, encouraged me to put it in the ground...and after researching it a bit I think I will do just that.
