I was originally inspired by George Schenk’s book about gardening on tables. I’m reminded of how chunks of old wood are good for making microclimates, too. I have been saved in the nick of time from making a table with just rocks to hold the soil! And I have a nice stash of gently rotting wood pieces. I’ll have to mail order special plants for this one because there are no collectors’ nurseries near here. I forgot all about his mention of the moss logs, but I did put a couple of little miniature narcissus bulbs in one of mine, and some cyclamen in the other. My tables really became catch-alls for all kinds of impulse buys from this year, and beyond. I'm revamping another bed soon, and will have to lift my pretty large clump of Cardamine in order to do it. Will happily share if you still need some. :)Anna Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02353084595743927603noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1018965493805276234.post-557065661468247232017-07-13T17:59:12.325-07:002017-07-13T17:59:12.325-07:00Love seeing how your corner is settling in - it lo...Love seeing how your corner is settling in - it looks terrific!Eliza Watershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06879335295393594236noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1018965493805276234.post-72649755282593675052017-07-13T17:06:34.930-07:002017-07-13T17:06:34.930-07:00That was fun. I think since I have so many ferns in the ground it seems a little silly to do a project like this. But I do have a low planter that's still empty . . . .hhhm. I've been growing Linearis polydactila since 1995. It will make a huge clump and you can cut off chunks where you see it forming a separate clump to make new plants. I must have 15 or more big clumps from my 2 originals. I have never had a slug problem or any pest bother it.
