After Melianthus major came back twice when I've cut it so low I was sure I must've killed it, I've gotten more courageous. I recently cut Dais cotinifolia (pom-pom tree) in half because it was beyond gawky and it came back looking better than ever (even though it still hasn't produced a single bloom). The only exception I can recall, has to do with lavender as I remember reading warnings about not cutting stems below the lowest level of foliage.Kris Petersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07097260283693156795noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1018965493805276234.post-64760142496831435282021-06-09T14:30:28.116-07:002021-06-09T14:30:28.116-07:00If you think about herbivores in nature that "...If you think about herbivores in nature that "prune" their favorite plants when eating them, then being cut back is more natural for many plants than is being left undisturbed.
