A trip back to the VanDusen Botanical Garden

Another must see while in Vancouver, B.C. (in 2010), the VanDusen Botanical Garden. I remember being a little concerned that after touring through the gardens and nurseries of California in 2009 that our 2010 travels would be a let down. I didn't need to worry.

This doesn't look like fall in Canada does it?

Again this post was a double header, Part 1 here, Part 2 here. I hope you enjoy them both.

I've enjoyed looking back at my past travels and reminiscing a bit, as well as taking a bit of a blogging break. Back to regularly scheduled (new!) posts next week. Oh, and Happy New Year!

This post is part of a week long series looking back at earlier garden visits and my posts on them. All material © 2009-2015 by Loree Bohl for danger garden. Unauthorized reproduction prohibited and just plain rude.

  1. Happy New Year! I enjoyed my visit to Van Dusen a few years ago, not long after we moved here. I should go back, I know so much more now.

    1. It's kind of amazing to revisit a place you first went as a new (or new to the area) gardener. We learn so much and then kind take it for granted.

  2. Happy New Year Loree! Your post is making us ponder now whether to include Vancouver in our Canadian next year...

    1. Oh that could get expensive and eat up a lot of time. Might be better to include that in your next USA west coast adventure?

  3. Thanks for your trips down memory lane. I've wanted to get up to BC for years but my husband has zero interest - maybe I can persuade my sister-in-law to accompany me there and to the PNW this year. Who knows - maybe if I throw in a visit to hubby's brother in Seattle, I can get him to come along as well.

    1. Wow, zero interest? What's his "thing" (interest/hobby) Vancouver is such an amazing city there really is something for just about everyone there. And yes, Seattle is so close that would be an easy add-on.

  4. I haven't visited B.C. in years and have never visited gardens there. Thanks for this fun week of tours, they were just as enjoyable the second time around!

    1. Perhaps you and Tom should take a little road trip north?

  6. Your blogging break is more than my blogging excess. No, nothing like what we're told a Canadian fall is, as if Canada is a tiny, homogenous country of maples under a glacier!

Not one totem pole in sight...hmmm...imagine some w/ those agaves?

    1. Haha, you're right (on both accounts). And there may have been a totem pole, sometimes my camera can get rather "focused"...
