I want!

How fabulous would it be to have a drinking fountain in your garden? Pretty fabulous I think. I’ve spotted this one outdoors at Portland Nursery before…

I love its industrial simplicity and the fact that it’s filled with moss.

It wasn’t until just last week that I realized they have another one indoors in the greenhouse.

How charming.

And I mean that in a good way.

    1. Ah you're probably right...but if you used the fountain often enough maybe you could fool it?

    2. I live two hours away from where my garden is, so it would be difficult :)

  4. I bet you could throw one together in a day! The drinking fountain fixture could be found at just about any salvage place for very little, the concrete pipe is not very expensive at places that make them or you could look for one in salvage, too. Visit to the box store for some pipe and fittings, hook it up to your hose, fill with rocks and soil plant and voila! Really cool fountains!

  6. Years ago, I saw a cement pipe exactly like this on the side of the road. I wanted to grab it and bring it home but my friend told me it would be too heavy to lift so I left it. Damn. Even without the drinking fountain it looks cool.

  7. I like the second one just fine, but the mossy one steals my heart. Either would keep the kids out of the kitchen on a hot day...

    1. We had a plastic one that attached to the outdoor faucet in between the hose and the spigot...probably for exactly that reason, mom wanted to keep us out of the kitchen!

  9. We used to have the most amazing drinking fountain outside of my parents' house when we were kids. That thing was genius. I really like the mossy one at Portland Nursery. What a great idea.

    1. Do your parents still live in the same house? Is it still there?

  10. Gotta keep our eyes open when we visit that place...either these are new, or I am hopelessly out of it.
