Foliage Follow-up…snug as a bug in a rug*

It might seem a little early for this but indeed I’ve begun to bring in my succulents and other weather sensitive plants. Fall came fast in these parts with temperatures dropping and the rain falling. I thought that I would be posting lots of beautiful fall color for this October Foliage Follow-up but that show hasn’t really developed here yet, maybe next month! * The expression “snug as a bug in a rug” is thought to allude to a moth larva happily feeding inside a rolled-up carpet, was first recorded in 1769 and probably owes its long life to the rhyme (source)

  1. I don't blame you. I started my pack up today as well, better safe than sorry given our recent winters!

  2. I have done the job of putting all my tender plants in the greenhouse last week. A hard job indeed !
This morning we have had the first frost. Many plants were flowering ...

  4. You could start your own nursery with your collection. All look very healthy. You must have the knack. I'll be doing the same with mine in a few weeks.

  5. Wow, seems early, but given all our rain, I guess I should get started. I just hate to consign my darling xerics to the funky basement so early. At least so far they are under the soffits and not getting much rain...yet.

  6. You may not have colorful fall foliage yet, but your succulent foliage is bright and beautiful. Are those tucked into the shade pavilion or down in the basement? Either way, it makes quite a pretty display for your cool season.

  7. Lovely collection of plants as always Loree! They look comfy and snug under cover for winter. As I've mentioned before I like your choices of pots and selection of succulents :)

  8. What a beautiful indoor view! I would do the same myself in your climate, but here it's more of a night by night basis. Such an awesome collection...

  9. SpikyO, exactly...I just couldn't stand to watch them get so water logged knowing they have a long winter ahead!

JPP, frost already!? I feel fortunate that is a way off for me (hopefully).

    rick, glad to help!

Lancashire Rose, funny my husband was just saying the same thing...I think trying to not so subtly encourage me to get rid of a few!

MulchMaid, I'm sure that makes all the difference, mine were all out in the elements completely. It's amazing how much heavier wet containers are!

Pam, those are all in the basement....thenshade pavilion is going to be called into action soon to.

    Thank you Mark and Gaz!

RFG, night by night would kill me! Too many to think about. I do treat our tree fern as a night by night situation, that's enough for me.

  11. Gracious me! Now you just need to post an OPEN sign with the hours that your greenhouse is open to the public. Your collection continues to dazzle and fascinate me!
