Why danger garden? Nice plants are boring – my love is for plants that can hurt you. Agave, yucca, anything with a spine or spur! Besides the danger the plants provide, gardening itself is just plain dangerous. The money! Who couldn't drop a couple hundred in an afternoon at Garden Fever or a Hardy Plant Society plant sale? Dangerous! And then there is my tendency to garden with plants that are on the edge of what my climate will allow. Sure Portland, Oregon, is a pretty temperate climate but mother nature loves to throw a zinger at us every once and awhile. Like winter 2009, temps below freezing for days on end, a nice little ice storm and snow…more snow than we’d seen in years. Dangerous!

ReplyDeleteFun title. I love sharp gardens too. I live in a hot, dry climate that's good for dangerous plants, but I have to admit I envy you your year-round temperate gardening climate.
